The Comedy
Showcase was founded in 1983 by comedian Danny Martinez and
his wife Blanca Gutierrez. Since, the Comedy Showcase has
developed many nationally recognized comedians under the
talent, compassion and guidance of Danny Martinez, “The
Godfather Of Texas Comedy”. The Club has earned bragging
rights to the accomplishments of some of the comics who
started here.
Thea Vidale got
her first break when she appeared on “Rodney’s Young
Comedians”, which led to her own series called “Thea” on ABC.
Rushion McDonald is now Steve Harvey’s Manager and Producer of
Steve’s television shows. T. Sean Shannon has written and
appeared in shows including “In Living Color”, “Tonight Show”,
“Vibe”, and today is an Emmy-award winning staff writer for
“Saturday Night Live”. |

Ralphie May is the
latest of the Comedy Showcase family to achieve accolades. He
has appeared on the “Tonight Show”, “Jimmy Kimmel”, “Hollywood
Squares”, “Wayne Brady Show” and a finalist on “Last Comic
Standing”. The Comedy Showcase has sparked the careers of
Texas notables such as Bill Engval and Rodney Carrington.
Other comedians who are in line for bigger things to come, to
name a few, are Billy D. Washington, Jeff Burghart, Caroline
Picard, Jim Holder, Juan Villareal, Mo Amer, Sheila Rivera,
Slade Ham Rick Gutierrez, Cleto Rodriquez, Hypnotist/Comedian
Martin Walsh and Hypnotist/Comedian Leroy Williams. |

Danny's act is
based on observational humor and is family oriented. He
enhances his show with impeccable impressions and
characters that keep all audiences interested and makes an
hour seem like 10 minutes! Comedy club and college
performances have taken Martinez coast to coast as well as
to Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and the Virgin Islands on the
Norwegian Cruise Ships. Danny has performed at the Arena
Theater, Houston and at the Laugh Factory, Los Angeles
with Paul Rodriguez. In August, 1997, Danny headlined at
the "Latino Laugh Festival", San Antonio, Texas. The show
entitled "Funny Is Funny" has been shown in Los Angeles as
well as through "SI" TV Syndication. Meanwhile, Martinez
runs his Comedy Showcase and thrives on the road where he
performs at The Riviera, The MGM and the Aladdin Hotels in
Las Vegas.
